About the Ritthem Forest

The Ritthem Forest, officially known as Rammekenshoek Nature Reserve, is a nature reserve of about 70 hectares, located near the village of Ritthem. This forest offers a peaceful escape in the Zeeland landscape and is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. The Ritthem Forest is known for its varied flora and fauna, with a mix of deciduous trees, shrubs and open grassy areas where you can spot numerous birds. Small mammals and insects are also abundant here. In addition to its natural beauty, the forest offers quiet hiking trails, idyllic vistas and a number of picnic spots. The forest is close to Fort Rammekens, the oldest sea fort in Europe, making it a great addition to a historic and nature-filled day in the Vlissingen region. The Ritthem Forest is a popular spot for both locals and visitors who want to experience the peace and quiet of the Zeeland countryside.
