About The Fisherwoman

The statue The Fisherman's Wife looks out over the Westerschelde, as if waiting for the return of the ships. The artwork, created by sculptor Herman Bisschop, symbolizes Vlissingen's connection to the sea and the fishermen who used to make their living on the water.

Thanks to its special location on the Oranjedijk, it is a popular spot to pause and enjoy the view. The Fisherwoman's Wife reminds visitors of Vlissingen's maritime past and the people who were part of it.
