About Uncle Beach
About Uncle Beach
Uncle Beach is a historic site of great importance to the liberation of the Netherlands during World War II. On Nov. 1, 1944, Allied troops landed here as part of the Battle of the Scheldt, a crucial military operation to gain access to the port of Antwerp. This liberation operation was essential to enable the supply of Allied troops and equipment to Western Europe. Today, Uncle Beach is a place of remembrance, where visitors reflect on the events that took place here. The Landing Monument, a memorial that honors the courage and sacrifice of Allied soldiers, is an important part of this site.
