About St. James' Church
Sint Jacobskerk, located on the Oude Markt in Vlissingen, is a monumental church building with a rich history dating back to the 14th century. Originally built around 1308, the church has undergone several expansions and renovations over the centuries. In 1911 the building was largely destroyed by a fire, but by 1915 rebuilding was complete.
Today, St. James' Church serves not only as a place of worship, but also as a cultural stage for a variety of events. Thanks to its excellent acoustics and atmospheric ambience, the church is a popular location for concerts, lectures, exhibitions and other cultural activities. For example, organ concerts are regularly organized and the church provides space for various exhibitions. It is also possible to rent the church for events such as fairs, company presentations and reunions. Visitors can tour the church during regular opening hours or participate in guided tours to learn more about the history and architecture of this special monument. This makes St. James Church a place where history and culture come together in the heart of Vlissingen.
