Chopin, Schumann, Arensky and Dvorak
In 2016, Ben Kim/piano, Niek Baar/fiddle and Ella, and van Poucke/cello played together for the first time, and since then they have worked as a trio on a versatile repertoire. Each season they perform several concerts, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Their collaboration is characterized by a special musical chemistry, in which each musician adds his own unique color to the whole. In addition, they always try to bring very varied programs, where they not only perform as a trio, but also like to present themselves to the public in duo and solo form.
Ben Kim is an American pianist who won an international prize in Munich in September 2006. He studied in America and in Italy with Martha Argerich, among others. He has performed in the United States and Japan, as well as at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Musikverein in Vienna and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig.
Niek Baar is a Dutch violinist. He won the 2018 National Violin Competition Oskar Back. Previously, he won other competitions. He has studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague and specialized at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, and at Christoph Dolls in Munich. Baar forms a duo with pianist Benjamin Kim.
Ella van Poucke is one of the leading cellists of her generation. She is acclaimed for her musical integrity, flawless instrumental skills, interpretation and intensity. She performs regularly in Europe, Asia and the United States as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles. In Zeeland, she has already given several high-profile performances.
The varied program makes the performances of these versatile musicians dynamic and exciting. They bring the music to life for the audience in a distinctive way during each recital. In Vlissingen, the musicians will take listeners on a musical journey through Europe. Well-known and lesser-known compositions by Frederic Chopin, Robert Schumann and Anton Arensky will be performed. The concert will conclude with the virtuoso and famous Dumky Trio by Antonin Dvorak.
