Festival Art in the Fortress

On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September 2025, the Vesting in Vlissingen's Scheldekwartier will transform into a vibrant festival heart. During the Festival Kunst in de Vesting, residents and visitors will enjoy a multifaceted program of art, music, theater, dance and poetry.

The festive opening will take place on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. by Mayor Bas van den Tillaar, in the Festivalhart. The Festivalhart can be found on the inner grounds of The Fortress, between the Singel and De Dempostraat.

Highlights of the program include performances by Douwe Eisenga (piano), band DIT, Syrian poets and musicians, Tango del Mar (flamenco), Hip Hop Avenue Vlissingen, theater De Listen the impressive Butoh dance by John Giskes. In addition, 20 visual artists will exhibit in the neighborhood and there will be a window exhibition in Insulindestraat.

Residents, artists and visitors together build a vibrant and creative festival that moves the neighborhood.
