Flying Vipers formed in 2015 in a basement outside Boston, Massachusetts, and released a couple of cassette EPs of raw but highly melodic dub (The Green Tape and The Copper Tape). Fully produced on an old-fashioned 4-track cassette recorder and mixed live.
The band, which typically performs live as a seven-piece unit, features twin brothers Marc & John Beaudette on drums & bass (Destroy Babylon, The Macrotones), Zack Brines on keyboards (Pressure Cooker, 10 Ft Ganja Plant, Kings of Nuthin’), and Kellee Webb on vocals (DB, Tiger Witch). They have over twenty years of experience in the New England scene and have shared the stage with legendary reggae artists from around the world, including Burning Spear, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Steel Pulse, the Skatalites, and Hollie Cook, to name a few.
Flying Vipers released their first full-length album, Cuttings, in July 2020 on Jump Up Records. Featuring 12 instrumental tracks, it was called "one of the best reggae albums of the year" by Flea Market Funk.
In 2024, the band released "Show Me" on 7-inch vinyl, their debut for Easy Star Records and their first track featuring the soulful vocals of Kellee Webb. The band has been holding it down long enough for more dub gems – keep an eye out.
