At age 75, Bruce Springsteen is still immensely popular. During his recent world tour, he once again confirmed his mythical status with numerous, over two-and-a-half-hour stadium concerts. For millions of fans worldwide, The Boss' songs are the soundtrack of their lives.
In 2017 and 2018, his New York solo concerts under the name 'Springsteen On Broadway' brought those songs back to their original form, using only his voice, his guitar and stories about his life, his ups and downs, his dreams and his inspirations. These intimate shows at the Walter Kerr Theatre were such a success that the planned 8-week period expanded to 14 months and eventually 236 shows.
In his theater show, JP de Klerk takes these Springsteen On Broadway shows as his starting point. JP performs many Springsteen songs in their pure form and takes the audience into the life of The Boss, as described in his autobiography 'Born To Run' (2016). Also, through a number of his own songs, JP tells how he himself was inspired by Bruce Springsteen as a singer-songwriter. JP de Klerk is assisted by Ralf Wychgel, who adds an extra dimension to the songs with changing instruments.
JP de Klerk is regularly called 'the Boss of Zeeland. In his songs and his stage presentation the inspiration of Bruce Springsteen is clearly perceptible. JP is also known as the front man and bandleader of JP & The Seeger Session Band, a band that is creating a furor at home and abroad with spectacular shows based on Bruce Springsteen's Seeger Sessions.
