Mark Foggo He is known worldwide as a dynamic singer and stage performer. He has been one of the biggest names in the ska scene since the 80s, particularly known for his manic performances, eccentric personality, excellent ska songs, and incredibly energetic ska shows.
He is sometimes described as a cross between Mr. Bean and Iggy Pop because of his bizarre stage performances and also as a "Ska missionary" because of his relentless quest to play and promote ska music around the world.
Mark Foggo is from Liverpool, England, where he began his musical career as a guitarist at the age of fourteen. Since then, he has lived in the Netherlands, Belgium, England, and Thailand. He recently toured Mexico and Colombia to spread the message of ska.
At sixteen, Mark left Liverpool and moved to London to try his luck as a guitarist, but he soon found more opportunities as a singer/frontman. After playing punk music for several years in well-known London pubs, he moved to the Netherlands in 1979. Shortly thereafter, the band "Mark Foggo and the Secret Meeting" was formed, and they immediately found success with the single "New Shoes." This led to a contract with Polydor Records and their first album, "Speeding My Life Away.".
More albums followed, with "Ska Pig" being the best known. This album was a huge hit with ska fans worldwide and is considered a classic in the genre today.
Escalation It's like that stain in the back of your fridge: every time you see it, it's bigger than the last time!
This collective of young music addicts draws its inspiration mainly from the first two ska waves, but also from, for example, punk and rhythm & blues, to then create a unique cacophony (or should I say 'skacophony'?)!
Her live shows are an unparalleled chaos where the audience and band members become indistinguishable from one another at any given moment! More than worth skipping your grandma's (possibly last) birthday for!
