Five years after Finally Free, here is Breath Catch, the new album from Scoundrel, still incomparable and unique, but suddenly complete and new with the vocals and drums of Winnie Haarhuis. Adem Happen is a wondrous whole of varied songs that were given ample time to mature, including "Tussen hond en wolf" (Between dog and wolf) based on a song by the late Alain Croubalian (Dead Brothers). Adem Happen lets you sing, dance, scream, warm yourself, make love, cuddle, rebel, laugh, stay up, dream, celebrate, and whistle. An escape from the real world, or is this the real world?
First reactions to the new record:
'Singing and dancing in the room, it immediately blasts out of the speakers, a really beautiful record, beautiful multi-part harmonies, we've never sounded this good. (Rommelhond) Violinist Max Swagemakers says: 'Rommelhond is a kind of musical street dog collective led by Erik vandenBerge, who writes incredibly beautiful songs that manage to conjure a smile on your face even with minor chords. We don't rehearse much, but each time a special piece of music is created, played from the heart.'
In 2021, Rommelhond released the LP Eindelijk Vrij (Finally Free), recorded in the Houtje-touwtje-stro-gebouwtje (Little stick-string-straw-building), a DIY studio made of straw bales in Breda. Frontman Erik vandenBerge shifted gears to acoustic and Dutch-language music. The album was dedicated to lost band members Arnoud Brinkman and Peter van Liere, who never returned from their journey to the Northern Lights with the ship Warnow (filmed by Wim van der Aar / VPRO). Rommelhond has already played on many well-known and lesser-known stages, from De Piek to Paradiso, and has shared the stage with, among others, het Beukorkest, Stuurbaard Bakkebaard, Johnny Dowd, Kyteman, Melle, Mark Lotterman, Dead Brothers, de Kift, Roosbeef, de Stokers, and more.
HOBOJOBOS is a folk punk band from Eindhoven. With Dutch-language, energetic and contrarian music, they get everyone singing and dancing like a crab. Cheerful songs about depression and angry lyrics about very low things. They play acoustic and ground floor and take you into their resistance. A unique experience!**
