From Schubert to Lili Boulanger
Pianist Saskia Giorgini, daughter of a Dutch mother and an Italian father, played the piano from the age of four. She completed her studies with special distinction at the Conservatory of Music in Turin and then specialized with Enrico Pace in Italy and Pavel Gililov at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. There she won the prestigious International Mozart Competition in 2016. A year earlier, she won the Chopin Prize at the Busoni Competition in Bolzano.
She gives many recitals and performs in well-known concert halls and festivals in many countries. In the Netherlands, she has been a guest at Tivoli Vredenburg in Utrecht and the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven;
She made her grand debut with Rachmaninov's first Piano Concerto in 2011 in New York with the NYCA Orchestra conducted by Matthew Oberlin. In subsequent years, she conquered audiences in Poland, Canada, Latvia, Italy and the Netherlands.
Saskia is also active as a chamber musician: she plays regularly with famous musicians, including Ian Bostridge, Janine Jansen, Martin Fröst, Mario Brunello, Thomas Demenga, Gilles Apap, Friedemann Eichhorn, Dora Schwarzberg, Casal Quartet, Delian Quartet.
In addition to her participations in well-known festivals, she taught as Gililov's assistant, and in the 22/23 season Saskia gave several recitals in the Netherlands. She is acclaimed for her intense renditions of piano concertos such as those by Ravel, Rachmaninov and Enescu.
