During Vlissingen 1572, maritime music will be heard throughout the city center on Saturday afternoons. On three stages: at the Oude Markt, the Nieuwendijk, and the Bellamypark, various shanty and sailors' choirs will perform, filling the city with robust sailor songs, captivating choral arrangements, and well-known maritime classics.
The choirs perform music that has been connected with life at sea for centuries: songs about long journeys, friendship on board, and the hard but proud existence of sailors. Some choirs sing traditional shanties, others offer a varied repertoire of maritime and English-language songs, but they all share the same love for music and the sea.
