The Ex returns to De Piek to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Vlissingen pop venue with us.
No band that keeps its eye on the future, possible challenges and what is yet to come, as strongly as The Ex. That is quite remarkable for a band that celebrated its 45th anniversary last year and should and could look back without shame on a well-rounded career with an impressive string of highlights.
The Ex played more than 2,000 concerts in 45 countries and often did so as a pioneer: in the 1980s, the band was one of the first Western bands to explore the Eastern Bloc, from Hungary and the former Czechoslovakia to Poland and Russia. Later, Canada, the United States and many more followed.
The Ex also established special connections with the rich Ethiopian music scene.
The Ex is musically indomitable and the former punk band that began in Amsterdam's Punk scene in the late 70s is still current, mixing punk, jazz and world music with the greatest of ease into a hypnotic musical mix that takes you on a dizzying musical journey.
The Ex celebrated their 45th anniversary in 2024 with a new single, a tour and a festival. And now, anno 2025 there is a new album IF YOUR MIRROR BREAKS, and yet another new tour across Europe. "forward in alldirections".
A chaos that rings true. DAMAGE is intense, honest and unpredictable-like a family party on fire, but you still keep dancing.
