Following the success of the first Neighborhood Festival in the muZEEum, the Maritiem Muzeeum Zeeland is now also organizing an edition for the villages of the municipality of Vlissingen. On Wednesday, April 10, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, all residents from Oost-Souburg, West-Souburg, and Ritthem are welcome for a festive evening full of music, workshops, culture, good food, and socializing. The program was developed together with residents and is accessible free of charge.
Why a Neighborhood Festival in the muZEEum?
‘We want all citizens of Vlissingen to feel at home in the muZEEum, which is why we are organizing these evenings together with all the neighborhoods. This edition is by and for the villages,’ says project leader Hanna Jaspers. ‘Together with residents, the village councils of Souburg and Ritthem, and other organizations, we have created a program that showcases the strength of these villages. For many residents, this is the first time they will experience the muZEEum in this way. This way, we bring culture closer to the residents, but also bring the culture of the villages into the muZEEum. The first edition in November with the neighborhoods of Bossenburg, Papegaaienburg, and Westerzicht was a great success, and we are aiming for that again this time.’
An evening for and by residents
To reach as many people in the neighborhood as possible, we developed this edition of the Neighborhood Festival in the muZEEUm together with: among others, Buurtteams Vlissingen, the Village Council of Souburg, the Village Council of Ritthem, and the COA, as well as active residents from the villages.
