On Friday evening, December 12, 2025, the inner city of Vlissingen will transform into one large, illuminated trail full of music, atmosphere and Christmas experiences. During the X-mas City Trail Vlissingen, hundreds of participants will walk a special route of about five kilometers along iconic locations, where lights, music and small surprises ensure an unforgettable evening in winter atmosphere. The start and finish are in the Sint Jacobskerk.
Participants discover Flushing in a unique way: from the Stone Bear and Perry's Dock to Bellamypark and Boulevard De Ruyter. Along the way there are short performances, choirs, light acts and atmospheric meeting moments. Some of the route passes through buildings, allowing participants to literally experience the city.
Sporty, social and meaningful
The X-mas City Trail is a recreational walk or run with no competition element. Participants can choose whether to walk or run; it's all about fun, not performance. The event aligns with the ambitions of Vlissingen in Beweging and the municipal sports policy to encourage residents to live an active, healthy lifestyle.
In addition, the evening has a warm heart: all proceeds benefit the charity Stichting Beleving De Blauwe Vlinder - a Vlissingen-based organization dedicated to the elderly and people with dementia, which funds additional activities and moments of happiness for this target group.
The city as a backdrop
The trail starts at 7 p.m. (walk-in from 6 p.m.) at St. James' Church, where the finish and aftermoment with hot chocolate and Christmas sounds will also take place. Along the route, local musicians, volunteers and entrepreneurs will provide lights, music and surprises.
