An artistic partnership in harmony
Piano Duo Symbiosis forms a unique musical unit that emerged from a close friendship and a shared passion for four-hand piano playing. Elisabeth Crommelynck and Sander Meersmans met at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp, where they studied with Levente Kende and Heidi Hendrickx. Both obtained their diplomas in 2015. Master of Music with great distinction.
Since June 2016, they have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to the piano duo repertoire. They have already presented very diverse programs, such as a musical journey through Europe in Europiano, an ode to Slavic music in Slavic Festival French composers in Invitation to the Journey.Sonata of a Day then take the audience on a musical journey again and Chiaroscuro is a poetic and contrasting program in which light and shadow are intertwined.
Her most recent program, 4 mains - classic for everyone, is a tribute to the art of four-hand piano playing, emphasizing dialogue, synchronization, and musical interplay. The piano playing is interspersed with sung interludes by Sander.
Elisabeth and Sander primarily play classical pieces, sometimes complemented by (rather modern) vocals, but always beautifully integrated into the program. A constant in every performance is that both musicians know how to captivate and move the audience, often in a simple setting, but literally and figuratively very close to their listeners. They perform mainly in Flanders and the Netherlands and had the honor of entertaining the Belgian royal couple with a concert in the Lakenhal during their visit to Herentals in February 2019.
