Step into Scheldestraat and chances are you'll soon hear a warm \"Hi dear!\" Chances are it's Yeter T\u00fcrk greeting you, the woman behind Lunchroom Keyf-i Alem, the Turkish Baker, a household name in Flushing since 2004. In this cozy lunchroom full of fragrant sandwiches, homemade baklava and Turkish tea, it's not just about food, but mostly about people.<\/p>\n

A place where everyone counts<\/h2>\n

Yeter knows everyone and everyone knows her. Not just because she serves the tastiest Turkish lunch dishes, but because she offers a listening ear, a helping hand, and never leaves anyone standing. The lunchroom has become a neighborhood beacon: a safe haven where you are welcome as you are.<\/p>\n

At one time, Yeter worked as an executive in customs and police in Rotterdam. That she would eventually run a lunchroom was not obvious. It was her husband who dreamed of running a bakery. When they were in Vlissingen visiting friends and discovered an empty building, they decided to take their chance. The family now lives above the business, literally and figuratively intertwined with the neighborhood they hold so dear.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n
