At € 472.000,- Oscar Smit, winner of the Cameretten 2024 jury prize, satirically addresses the overcrowded housing market. How did it get this far? And is it all the fault of politics? (Spoiler: yes.)
After more than ten years in shared apartments, Oscar would like to live on his own for once. It’s not that he really needs to leave that house. It’s still cozy with his roommates. Oscar really has nothing bad to say about that (also because they might be reading this).
But now is the time for a place of my own. Time to start.
De Volkskrant: ‘Amidst the many jokes, Smit manages to provide political commentary.’
Theaterkrant: ‘The undisputed winner of Cameretten.’
Cabaret.nl: ‘Oscar has packaged his social criticism in a series of well-thought-out jokes. The roaring laughter is fully deserved.’
In 2024, Oscar Smit won the jury prize at the Cameretten Festival. The jury described him as ‘an engaged creator who surprises with extremely clever jokes’. Oscar is a regular member of the Comedyhuis in Utrecht and co-wrote the VPRO television program Plakshot.
