Author and documentary maker Natascha van Weezel explores in her lecture how conflicts on the global stage influence our personal lives. She advocates for nuance and the importance of continuing to see each other as human beings, precisely as polarization increases.
Musical accompaniment
This lecture, an initiative of the PAX Walcheren working group in collaboration with Cultuurpodium Sint Jacobskerk, is framed by the Sunshine Cleaners with songs from their new album ‘Elementary Force’, inspired by the diaries of Etty Hillesum.

About Natascha van Weezel
Natascha van Weezel (1986) is an author and documentary filmmaker. Her family history influences her work. Her parents are journalists Anet Bleich and Max van Weezel, who passed away in 2019, both children of Holocaust survivors. If this can happen to one minority, it can happen to any minority, she learned from her grandfather. Together with journalist and good friend Sinan Can, in 2023 in the documentary Bridge across the fault line examining the consequences of the Gaza war in the Netherlands. Her book appeared in 2024 How do you keep your heart soft, a plea for the radical center in times of war.
