About Museum Scheldewerf
Museum Scheldewerf, located in Vlissingen's Schelde Quarter, tells the story of the famous shipyard Koninklijke Maatschappij De Schelde, which played an important role in the Dutch shipbuilding industry since 1875. Housed in the building of the former company medical service, the museum offers a fascinating look at Vlissingen's rich maritime history and De Schelde's influence on the city. Inside the museum, visitors can admire historic ship models, tools and photographs that showcase the hard work and expertise of those in the shipyard. Scattered throughout the museum is a collection of scale models of iconic ships and naval vessels that were built here, as well as stories about the people who worked at the shipyard. In addition to the permanent exhibition, Museum Scheldewerf hosts regular temporary exhibitions, workshops and events focusing on shipbuilding, engineering and maritime history of Zeeland. The museum is an ideal destination for families, maritime enthusiasts and anyone interested in Vlissingen's industrial past.
