Lord Bishop Rocks is without a doubt the most exciting and musically talented rock trio of the 21st century. They combine their own style of 70s-influenced hard rock, funk, blues, jazz, reggae and punk into a sound they themselves call Hendrixian Motör Funk.
There have been many trios before them: Cream, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Blue Cheer, Nirvana, Motörhead, Muse, Them Crooked Vultures, Green Day - all of these groups stand out because they have brought new life and perspective to the way rock music is expressed sonically.
Lord Bishop can look back on a concert career of more than 4,000 performances in more than 44 countries on 4 continents, which earned him and his band the reputation as probably the most extravagant rock trio of the 21st century. He always knew how to win over his audience with raw energy and his distinctive character. In this long career, he shared the stage with his great musical examples Living Colour, Johnny & Edgar Winter, Nazareth, Eric Burdon and many other great rockers.
Lord Bishop Rocks has taken this stylistic template to new stratospheric heights. Imagine Beatles-like melodies, the heaviness of Sabbath and the funk of James Brown, all rolled into one. Johnny Black is a solid rock band formed during the hard times of the Covid era. What began as a home project during the lockdown quickly grew into something bigger. During the lockdown, Jan Verdoorn, the creative brain behind the music, began making songs that reflected real life. Later, this music grew into Johnny Black.
In April 2023, Johnny Black released their first single, "Story of Your Life." With Jan's powerful vocals and catchy guitar melodies, along with Jeroen Polderman's solid drumming, the song touched many people. The enthusiastic response made them realize they were onto something special.
With the support of their new fans, they wanted to further develop their sound. So Serge Naberman joined, a good friend and talented guitarist, who added a new layer to their music with his solos. With each band member bringing a lot of experience, Johnny Black became a strong band.
In March 2024, they released their latest single, "Soul Vacation," cementing their place in the rock scene. The song, with its powerful choruses and strong instrumentation, shows exactly what Johnny Black stands for: making music that touches deep within your soul.
