Heritage Open Days 2026

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, several monuments in Vlissingen will open their doors during Open Monument Day. A great opportunity to visit special places and discover more about the city's history and heritage.

Besides viewing the monuments, there is plenty to experience. Join a guided tour of the Scheldekwartier, visit the Zeeuws maritiem muZEEum and the new Oostbeer Experience, or enjoy a concert in the Sint Jacobskerk. Those who are not afraid of heights can climb the church tower for a unique view of Vlissingen. The traditional cannon firing at the Rondeel, in front of Brasserie Evertsen, is also on the program again.

Anniversary booklet

Open Monumentendag will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026. Specially for this anniversary, the booklet Monuments on Walcheren has been created, featuring various special monuments on Walcheren. During Open Monumentendag, the booklet will be available for free and in a limited edition at participating locations.
