Come to the grand reopening of Oostbeer Bastion in Vlissingen during Open Monument Day! 🎉

Deeply hidden in the fortifications of Vlissingen lies a special monument from the time of Napoleon: the Oostbeer. This impressive 19th-century defense work was part of the defense of the Westerschelde and regulated the water level in the fortress moat. 🌊🧱

During your visit, you are not only stepping into a historical building, but also a story. In the dark corridors, a French soldier Take me to the time when Vlissingen was one of the most important fortress cities of Europe. 🇫🇷⚔️

Opening program:

  • 🕚 11:00 AM – Festive opening with alderman Bertijn
  • A delicious cup of coffee for everyone present, with a sweet French pastry
  • 🗝️ Afterwards: first guided tours of the Eastern Bear led by the French soldier

When?
Saturday, September 12, 2026 (Heritage Days)
Opening at 11:00 AM, followed by guided tours according to regular times until 5:00 PM.
